The current US passport specification is 2 × 2 inches (51 × 51 millimeters). Size is only one requirement, so also review the official head-position, background, lighting, expression, recency, and image-quality rules in the exact adult, child, baby, renewal, or digital application guide.
You can start with an original phone or camera photo when the selected guide says online framing is available. Use even front lighting, face the camera, and leave room around the head and shoulders. Some authorities capture the photograph themselves or require a studio, and those guides do not offer online preparation.
